Since a few days ago, lots of images have vanished from the Kurdish Wikipedia. You can see it at http://ku.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taybet:NewImages In the lower part of the page you see the missing images. They are not deleted and produce no error messages. This does not only effect new images, also old images.
I have spoken with Tim Starling at IRC #wikimedia-tech. His answer: [07:59] <TimStarling> Raymond_: the files in question will need to be re-uploaded Erdal, please inform the kuwiki community accordingly. I close this bug as FIXED as the tech people cannot do anything :-(
(In reply to comment #1) > I close this bug as FIXED as the tech people cannot do anything :-( Correction: Tim corrected some wrong directory permissions: https://wikitech.leuksman.com/index.php?title=Server_admin_log&diff=0&oldid=15963
Are you serious? It's not a matter of the last few uploaded images. More than half of all uploaded images from the last four and a half years have vanished. The must be at least in backups or on mirror servers. It would be an incredible amount of work to find them and re-upload them manually. Since all the description pages are still there, it should be possible to recover the images from somewhere, shouldn't it? Did you see any effects of the work on the directory permissions? I haven't yet.
Now really fixed. Thanks Tim :) https://wikitech.leuksman.com/index.php?title=Server_admin_log&diff=15983&oldid=15982
