Landing Page: Mediawiki should have a landing page feature like the one at wikipedia.org which has the image of a globe and the different languages and a search button etc. The landing page feature should be easy to edit and users should be able to insert their own logo/text etc. The logo image should be able to be a maximum of 600x600 pixels without the page buttons appearing out of line with each other. Also, this landing page should have a feature where whatever link a user clicks on in a search engine, the landing page will be displayed always. this feature should be able to be turned on and off. For example, if a user clicks on a link in google like websiteurl.org/wiki/test, they will be taken to the landing page first(eg. websiteurl.com/landingpage) and then there can be a "continue" button they click on and it will take them to the url they clicked on in the search engine. Live Viewing Updates: Mediawiki should have a feature that displays the live number(number updated when users refresh the page) of users viewing a page. It should be able to be displayed near the top or bottom of the wiki article. Bandwidth Saving feature: Mediawiki should develop a feature that somehow compresses the text and images so people's servers who have lots of people accessing it will use less of their server's bandwidth. And maybe you could develop a feature where users of the wiki can contribute bandwidth to the wiki by downloading a file and running it and it will mean their pc will become part of the server a wiki is hosted on. Announcement Feature: Mediawiki should have a feature where an announcement can be displayed at the top of all mediawiki pages. Wikipedia sometimes does this where it asks people to donate etc. It could be displayed directly above the article's name near the top of a wiki page. the alignment should be in the middle and users should be able to post comments but these comments will be displayed on another page. There should be a 'read more' button that users click on that takes them to a special announcement page where they can read the full text and also comment. The Announcement Feature should also have an option of displaying the Announcement to all user's countries by detecting their ip address and also an option of only displaying an announcement to certain countries. For example, a person makes an Announcement, chooses the countries of Britain and Canada, so the announcement will only be visible to british and canadian ip addresses.

Already exists, is active on Wikimedia. > And maybe you could develop a feature where users of the wiki can contribute > bandwidth to the wiki by downloading a file and running it and it will mean > their pc will become part of the server a wiki is hosted on. > Too difficult to run, doesn't work with the HTTP protocol. > Announcement Feature: > Mediawiki should have a feature where an announcement can be displayed at the > top of all mediawiki pages. Resolving as WORKSFORME, as all but one are already implemented, the one final one is a pretty obvious WONTFIX. Already exists.
