Description Effeietsanders 2008-10-06 11:07:39 UTC
Hi,

could you please set up a mailing list for the Dutch Wikimania bidding team, so that the communication can be made easier? :) It should be a closed mailing list with closed archives (so we can discuss sponsors etc). If you can make me from there list admin, I can take care of the membership etc.

I know this is probably unprecedented, but I do think it would make the bidding definitely easier, and I think it is better then having such a list elsewhere (in case the bid gets accepted, it could possibly be transformed without much further ado).

Thanks a lot in advance,

on behalf of the Dutch bidding team,

Lodewijk

When a bidding team asked for a wiki/list last year, I'm pretty sure they got denied. CC'ing to Cary for the final decision. :-)

Ehm, just to be clear, we don't need a wiki :) Just a mailing list. Actually, I don't see why to deny it, at worst we ask in a few months to remove the list again. But well, as long as we know it soon, otherwise we have to find a friendly provider :)

Unfortunately, the Foundation can't be giving mailing lists which by vocation are ephemeral (will be gone in a few months) to every bidding team that asks for it. I would suggest trying to find other tools online to serve that purpose. There are Google groups which can be made secure, or such services as http://mixxt.com or http://planzone.com etc. Plenty of possibilities out there. :)
