I'm filing this here, but would appreciate it being referred if needed. On English Wikipedia, the default source entry for self-created images appears to be something like 'I made this image entirly' myself, when the {{tl|information}} box for an image is filled out (possibly by [[Special:Upload]].) However, self created images under a free-licence get moved to Wikimedia Commons, and in the transfer process, the link between the original uploader (in the meta data) and the 'I' in the original gets broken... This may lead to some confusion on the part of people finding the image at Commons. Would it be possible to adjust [[Special:Upload]] or the relevant portions of Media-wiki to use something like ' {{User Name}} is the sole creator of this image' ? This is less ambiguous and won't be a link that gets broken when images are moved to Commons. Whilst this issue has arisen with English Wikipedia -> Commons it may be a potential issue with other cross wiki-image transfers. The alternate to this, would be to longer term look into possibly , having much closer Commons integration in a Media Wiki extension, deprecating the current generation of bot assisted transfer tools. Isn't this an issue with locally customized MediaWiki: messages?
This is certainly something for local wikis to do in either their messages or site JS. Marking INVALID.
By the way, add checkboxes for: I'm uploading this photo for my [ ]spouse [ ]child [ ]parent [ ]etc. [ ]friend because s/he does not know how to use computers but has made this great picture, etc.
