This was apparently forgotten in the initial request for creation of the group but before this usergroup the list was manually maintained. Either way accepted guidelines still state that both reviewers and admins may grant users the Image-reviewer right. It doesn't say anything about removal of the right, that would require a vote or atleast a seperate bug. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:License_review#How_to_become_a_reviewer After a few days, a reviewer or administrator determines whether there are no severe objections to the candidate. If there are not, the user will close the request and add the candidate to the list of reviewers.
Do you have a link to the original consensus showing this was to be the case?
Krinkle: It's been that way for 5 years. Every new reviewer has to accept those guidelines. What's new ? That the right is an actual user group and not a protected wiki-list. local revision 1460, 1461 (case typo): Index: InitialiseSettings.php =================================================================== --- InitialiseSettings.php (revision 1458) +++ InitialiseSettings.php (working copy) @@ -5976,6 +5976,7 @@ 'checkuser' => array( 'ipblock-exempt' ), 'sysop' => array( 'rollbacker', 'confirmed', 'patroller', 'autopatrolled', 'filemover', 'Image-reviewer' ), 'steward' => array( 'OTRS-member' ), + 'image-reviewer' => array( 'Image-reviewer' ), ), '+elwiktionary' => array( 'bureaucrat' => array( 'interface_editors' ),
