Steps to reproduce:
1. Navigate to wikimedia main page. (IE7 and IE8)
2. Open a page in edit mode.
3. Highlight a text and click on the 'No wiki formatting' button.

Actual results:
No wiki format does not applied to the highlighted text.  The syntax displayed next to the highlighted text.  (only in IE7 and IE8)

This is applicable for 'Bold', 'Italic', 'Indented line', 'Big', 'Small', 'Superscript' and 'Subscript' in IE7 and IE8.

Works for me as of r82004 on prototype: tested 7 and 8 on XP.
