Description Kelson [Emmanuel Engelhart] 2011-05-13 11:52:07 UTC
Like described here:
http://openzim.org/Metadata

Without them this is not possible to distinguish content in a list or overview of many content.
Comment 1 Volker Haas 2011-05-16 13:38:22 UTC
I added the following metainfo to zim files: Title, Subtitle, Date, Language, Source. The rest that is described on the zim wiki is not available. Everything should be working but I don't know how to really test this feature
Comment 2 Kelson [Emmanuel Engelhart] 2011-05-16 13:49:05 UTC
If it works on prod. (so en.wikipedia.org for example) I will test it and give you a feedback soon.

FYI: http://www.kiwix.org/index.php/FeedFormat

I updated the production servers, you can test and see if it works. I tested with zimdump and the metadata articles are preset - but I couldn't get any further info.

Feedback for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book:Castlevania_series

I starts to work but:
* Creator: empty (should be something like "Wikipedia community of creator" or something like that)
* Description: empty (should be the description of the book)
* Title: OK but mimetype should be text/plain (by kiwix created ZIM, " text/html; charset=utf-8")
* Language: OK but mimetype should be text/plain (by kiwix created ZIM, " text/html; charset=utf-8")
* Date: OK but mimetype should be "text/plain" (by kiwix created ZIM, " text/html; charset=utf-8")

Would also be great to have /-/favicon.png like described here to be able to distinguish content on a visual basis in kiwix content manager (and others)
See https://openzim.org/ZIM_File_Format#Namespaces

On Kiwix we use:
http://kiwix.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/kiwix/dumping_tools/data/wikipedia-icon-48x48.png?view=log
Comment 5 Volker Haas 2011-05-17 07:36:53 UTC
* fixed mimetypes
* add Creator (pre-set to "Wikipedians" - can be changed in the config file)
* added favicon. I used the on you suggested, might switch to something else later on.

I didn't add the "Description" metadatum since I simple do not have this information.
Comment 6 Kelson [Emmanuel Engelhart] 2011-05-17 08:56:54 UTC
Great! Would it help (to get a specific favicon and description) to extend the template:saved book? What would be the best approach to your opinion?
Comment 7 Volker Haas 2011-05-18 06:41:48 UTC
Regarding the description: I would suggest not including a "custom" description at the moment. This would require a substantial amount of work on both the Extension:Collection and a couple more core components of mwlib.

If the description is absolutely required I would suggest using the list of article titles inside the zim file. Would that be an option?
Comment 8 Kelson [Emmanuel Engelhart] 2011-05-18 13:03:44 UTC
I do not see how a list of article title scould be OK as description of a book...

The description is IMO essential for the future but this may be better handled in an other feature request. The WMF has also maybe an opinion about that.
