Description Derk-Jan Hartman 2011-05-14 10:13:56 UTC
Currently it sometimes advices you to download Firefox, but there are no advices for:

1: downloading XiphQT (for ogg/theora) or Perian (for WebM) on the Mac.
2: downloading the Google WebM plugin for IE
3: The IE xiph.org Theora plugin
4: upgrade from Old FF/Opera/Chrome to first version that supports the specific codec.

It should be noted that sometimes these other experiences are not so smooth. For example installing the chrome frame is a far better experience than installing the IE webm components ( that don't work so well atm ).

I have not tested the Perian package, Although I hear you say it works reasonably well. Where should we link to?

Upgrading browsers is an easy thing to recommend doing :)

I think what we should do is say "install firefox" or 1-4 if you don't have WebM support.

The current player TimedMediaHandler, links to the playback documentation page instead then directly pointing to Firefox.
