If you've created a new page, the full text of it will be displayed in the recent changes feed even if it's more than $wgFeedDiffCutoff characters.  I'm not positive this was unintentional, but it seems like undesirable behavior.

Applied to trunk as r102295.

John's patch introduced some code duplication. I have took care of it by introducing a new helper function.

Would be in 1.19.
