Description Lvova 2011-06-13 19:35:00 UTC
For better communication between the members of the Connectivity project (http://toolserver.org/~lvova/ + https://fisheye.toolserver.org/browse/golem) we want to create a mailing list with announcements and urgent discussions about project (bugs, help, features, etc).

The name of the list: 'connectivity-l'.

Initial e-mail address: stasielvova@gmail.ru

Now we have 4 very active language editions (be, be-x-old, uk and ru), that are working with the project, 4 duty members, ~4 developers and some language editions that are not very active, but active (pl, for example) - I don't count the community members that work with the project. Now we are coordinating our activity on my talkpage, Mashiah Davidson's bot talk page, different users' talk pages, in mail, irc, gtalk, icq, on the forums... I want to have the single and stable channel for the work and I hope that the mailing list will help in it.

Best regards,
Lvova Anastasiya

Hello Anastasiya! We usually don't create mailing lists for toolserver or wiki projects. It also doesn't seem like you a mailing list is needed -- I think a central page on Meta-Wiki would be the best solution at the moment. You guys could explain the project on that page, list the to-dos, announcements, etc., and then use the talk page for discussion. That also provides a nice central location for bug reports and other comments from users.

Good luck with your project and let me know if you need anything else! :-)

...it also doesn't seem like you are right. :) We have a lot of on-going issues (lot of them are software ones) which are very uncomfortable for discussion in wiki talk pages.

You say that wiki project mailing lists are not created usually. At the same moment, I see some wiki projects having their own mailing lists. Connectivity Project is NOT a toolserver project. And it's a pity you can't make an exception for such a great project.

Hope you'll change your decision ;)

Regards,
Paul :)
