Do we actually need this? I think it would be easier just to keep bugzilla and not have the this redirect, you save what 4 characters?

I guess I should have expanded on the reasoning for the request. This isn't about saving characters. The idea is to improve the findability/guessability of MW's bug database, in order to encourage participation in the development process and proper issue reporting. We already have bugzilla.mediawiki.org, bugs.wikimedia.org and bugs.wikipedia.org redirecting to bugzilla, so it only makes sense to have this one. Besides, it's not like it'd have any drawbacks, would it?
