The current German translation for datatype email ($m_DatatypeLabels) should be changed to "E-Mail" ('_ema' => 'Email' → '_ema' => 'E-Mail'). For compatibility reasons I suggest to additionally set an alias ($m_DatatypeAliases) 'Email' => '_ema', This change cannot be done via translatewiki.net Additionally I think that the developers should take a peep at this.
This is the string used to interpret [[Has type::Email]] right?
Yes. It should be possible because there is already a "URI-Annotation" around. However I am not sure about the compatibility thing.
Ok, done in r101303. The name "Email" works anyway since it is the En alias, too. The main name in German now is E-Mail. For English, we follow to Knuth's argument that the hyphen is entirely unnecessary and cumbersome, http://www-cs-faculty.stanford.edu/~uno/email.html (bottom). The same holds true for German, but, alas, German language is governed not by reason but by a central authority that declares that "E-Mail" is "frequently misspelled" instead of admitting that the writing "email" is just as popular (but what do the people know about their language anyway?!).
Thank you. It is because of that entirely different reason as Knuth mentions, that we should not use Email in German. Indeed it is a different situation for English :)
