After discussion on se.wikipedia (http://se.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:G%C3%A1ffestohpu#Sami_logo) and further discussion with language experts it seems like the file http://se.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-se-example-4.svg is close to a correct one for Northern Sami Wikipedia. It is made according to the official design guide (http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Wikimedia_official_marks/Word_mark_creation) with 12.185 pt font size in Linux Libertine for Wikipedia, with no additional kerning of letters. Only the tagstring is changed. The one used reads "Friddja diehtosátnegirji" (note the a-acute), and it reads "Fri kunnskapsordbok" in Norwegian or "Free knowledge dictionary" in english. It is a borrowed construct from Finnish Wikipedia (http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Etusivu) Please replace the existing logo with this or a similar one.
That's not actually 135 x 135 which is the standard/required size http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/1a/Wikipedia-logo-v2-se-example-4.svg/135px-Wikipedia-logo-v2-se-example-4.svg.png That should be 135px x 135px. Not sure if that works for you...
The default logo referenced in the design guide is in fact 135x155. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-en.svg Anyhow, I don't think I'm able to change the logo? It is set as a background image style="background-image: url(/images/wiki-en.png)"
You can change it locally in some configurations, but the MW guide says 135 x 135, so I'm now somewhat confused http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:%24wgLogo
English WP has 135x155 too ... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/bc/Wiki.png Mediawiki.org uses 135x135 ... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/mediawiki/b/bc/Wiki.png
Done
Seems like the new Northern Sami Wikipedia logo don't show in Monobook. I have no idea why.
There has been a logo request for Sami Wikipedia on Meta-wiki. I've created the file and uploaded the logo with their request. The only switch is that the translation reads "Wikipediija. Almmolaš diehtosátnegirji" instead of "Friddja diehtosátnegirji". I'm willing to bet this might be a closer translation. (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikisami.png) Requesting that this version be switched out to this file.
If the "Friddja diehtosátnegirji" is the better translation then just ignore the file I've uploaded and the request.
The text for the present logo in use for the Vector skin at Northern Sami Wikipedia is the result of a lengthy process where several translations were discussed, including people at the language lab at University of Tromsø. I do _not_ think it should be changed without due process at the actual Wikipedia. The only thing that should be changed is that the logo in use for Modern should be the same as for Vector, and the globe should be the same as for other languagge editions. The version now in use for the Vector skin is according to the example file for proper logos, but the logos in actual use have a deeper groove.

I have to admit that I don't understand what exactly is requested in this bug report and/or why it is (still?) open. Replacing "Friddja diehtosátnegirji" by "Almmolaš diehtosátnegirji"? Or not? :) If so, that would likely require community consensus. (In reply to comment #10) > For the previous discussion, see > http://se.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:G%C3%A1ffestohpu/Arkiiva_1#Sami_logo That link is gone now.
Could somebody answer comment 11 please?
I've read this report like 4 times... (In reply to comment #11) > (In reply to comment #10) > > For the previous discussion, see > > http://se.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:G%C3%A1ffestohpu/Arkiiva_1#Sami_logo > > That link is gone now. It works for me, however jeblad in the discussion says "The last responce I got was that the correct form is «Friddja encyklopediija»", while the current logo is the one which avoids the word "encyklopediija" and is the same he asked in comment 0. All is fine in monobook, so probably the problem was that they had hacked in MediaWiki:Vector.css rather than the wiki config, but now it's ok. Reopen with a clear bug summary if it's not...
