The geographic coordinates for a single point on earth are two or three (with elevation) coordinates. Thus the singular refers to either longitude or latitude, but not to the combination of the two. The SMW type, however, refers to the tupel of longitude, latitude. See, e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco - the "coordinates" (plural) indicate a single point on earth. Suggestions: add "Geographic coordinates" as new type, deprecating "Geographic coordinate" to a synonym of this.
Fixed in r97493 for SMW but the label is actually redefined in Semantic Maps (which overwrites the SMW setting). This double definition is a bug as such and will also be fixed in due course.
SM follow up in r97497
