Description John N. 2011-09-23 06:15:28 UTC
The mailing-list for the German Wikibooks project is almost never used and I believe no serious e-mails were send in over a year. Mostly/exclusively spam is send via the list (only to me as I am the admin), but I cannot delete it as I lost the password for the administrative interface. Seeing that nobody uses the list except spambots, it could as well be deleted.

Greetings,

According to Casey Brown, who handles many of the mailing list issues around here:

There's no way to "close" a mailman list. Instead, I would suggest that you
unsubscribe everyone from the mailing list, make it so that new people can't
subscribe, hide the list from the list of lists page, and add a note to the
"list description" in all [appropriate languages] that says the list is closed (and
pointing them to the other MediaWiki lists).

I hope that helps.

Note You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
