I used the built-in WYSIWYG button to make a redirect in a LiquidThreads comment. The wikitext that it output was: #REDIRECT [[Target page name]] so I added the argument: #REDIRECT [[Main Page]] and the resulting comment looked like this: 1. REDIRECT Main Page where "Main Page" was a link. I think it was misreading the # as a "start a numbered list here" marker.
Hi Sumana. This happens when redirects aren't parsed as redirects. For example, when you put a redirect on a page and you do a preview, you can see the exact same behavior. I think LQT comments doesn't support redirects and this is by design. What would you expect to happen if you put a redirect? * Make the browser load the new page (I think this can be confusing, and dangerous, if this appears on a thread listing page / Special:NewMessages) * Load the contents of another page? (Although this should probably be achieved by transcluding its contents like any other template, like {{:Page title}}.) Closing this bug for now. Feel free to reopen if you or anybody else has a clear concept of what should happen when inserting a redirect on a LQT comment
Should probably modify WikiEditor to know when redirects are acceptable (so the button is marked as list item or redirect), but I don't think that's an LQT issue.
