I added a single checkbox option to a new section and and empty td appears using giant space (see attached screenshot):

<td class="mw-label"><label for="mw-input-disableShopLinks"></label></td>

Thos shouldn't be added when (only) type toggle is used.

It seems that actually a blank should be returned. Prefs > [Recent changes] / "Advanced options" uses:

<td class="mw-label"><label for="mw-input-wpusenewrc">&nbsp;</label></td>
