The following message appear when trying to modify a page on french wikibooks.

AVERTISSEMENT : la base de données a été verrouillée pour des opérations de maintenance. Vous ne pouvez donc pas publier vos modifications pour l’instant. Vous pouvez copier le texte dans un fichier texte et le conserver pour plus tard.

L’administrateur ayant verrouillé la base de données a donné l’explication suivante : The database has been automatically locked while the slave database servers catch up to the master

So I have some essential questions :
* Why the maintenance operations aren't done during the night from 4:00 AM (France local time) ?
* Why is there no pre-warning about such long maintenance operation ?
* How long will be this maintenance operation ?

This is not a maintenance operation, it's an unexpected outage. We're working on fixing it.

Is it a bug from the MediaWiki software itself ?

I don't know. All I know is that a database server is going crazy, and that this is affecting the ~750 smallest wikis.
