Description Sam Reed (reedy) 2011-10-08 11:01:30 UTC
It's duplicate unnecessary information, that overlaps
Comment 1 Brion Vibber 2011-10-08 17:44:48 UTC
Can you provide a screenshot? I see no such thing...

Example of problem

HTC Desire HD, Android 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1
Comment 3 Brion Vibber 2011-10-10 17:56:05 UTC
Weird... definitely does not happen on Nexus 1, stock Android 2.3.6.

Possibly this is HTC Sense messing with the on-screen keyboard and doing a bad job of placing their keyboard autocomplete area? Normally this would appear down at the top of the soft keyboard, and not be mixed in with the content area.

Seems fine on the mobile site...

When it's giving the autocomplete, it shows it directly above the keyboard

I've not actually seen this on any other sites/apps

It would seem fairly plausible that it's HTC Sense related though
Comment 5 Sam Reed (reedy) 2011-10-11 23:31:37 UTC
It's slightly better as of the build now (bug 31460 maybe?)

It's not as large as it was, but it's still there...

How it is now

And the current one is here
Comment 7 Tomasz Finc 2011-10-13 22:49:43 UTC
I'm seeing the same thing happen on a Droid Incredible.
Comment 8 Sam Reed (reedy) 2011-10-14 15:42:56 UTC
I updated last night, and changed the Target api to 2.3.3 (for some reason I had it on 2.2)

It seems fixed for me..
Comment 9 Tomasz Finc 2011-10-14 16:38:53 UTC
There are still enough people on 2.2 that we need to fix this.
Comment 10 Yuvi Panda 2011-12-13 11:59:39 UTC
Doesn't happen on my 2.2 device
Comment 11 Sam Reed (reedy) 2012-01-26 11:03:22 UTC
This is back for me on git HEAD, on 2.3.5 and looking worse...

Adding to 31805, v1.1 bugs
Comment 14 Derk-Jan Hartman 2012-01-26 18:27:14 UTC
In git head I changed the box to a type=search textfield, that probably explains. If someone can lookup the webkit versions that these devices run that might help. It's probably easier to debug in a browser. Got something todo with the default CSS settings such a textbox had. i thought i overrided most of them, but apparently still missing something on older browsers.
Comment 15 Phil Chang 2012-01-27 22:15:53 UTC
Ok, let's help DJ get webkit versions of the problem devices. Reedy?
Comment 16 Yuvi Panda 2012-02-03 12:01:43 UTC
The first two are completely different issues than the last one (which has been fixed/reverted). Can you still reproduce either of the first two?

No, the "autocomplete suggestion" esk boxes don't appear now.

The larger textbox over the search box, which can be moved up and down by scrolling is still replicable
Comment 18 Yuvi Panda 2012-06-28 14:45:01 UTC
Something similar was happening on ICS, and I *finally* found a fix and have it up on https://github.com/wikimedia/WikipediaMobile/pull/263. Might (or might not) fix the 2.x issues too.

Won't do additional work on this on the PhoneGap-based app which is being discontinued. Won't be a problem on future native app.
