Description philosopherwikipedia 2011-10-31 23:17:40 UTC
[[MediaWiki:Wikimedia-copyright]] doesn't show on the Simple skin. This means that the links to the Foundation's copyright/trademark/terms of use aren't displayed to users with that skin.

I first brought the problem up at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)#MediaWiki:Wikimedia-copyright_and_simple_skin and was directed to file a bug report here.

Thanks!

It looks like the "Simple" skin has been explicitly hiding the footer since it was added back in 2005 (r10262):

#footer {
	display: none;
}

So, is this WONTFIX?

I wouldn't say WONTFIX. not displaying this information is probably bad in that we should take proper care that people are aware of this information. By hiding it, people will have an excuse to play ignorant. Also has possible legal implications in that regard.
