Currently it's not, see e.g. [[Special:Log/newusers/shetech]]:
#account created in 2006: [[Special:Log/newusers/Rhilgraves]];
#global account created in April 2009;
#local account renamed in August 2009;
#local account recreated in November 2011 (with old global account still "existing"): [[Special:CentralAuth/Shetech]], [[Special:Contributions/Shetech]].
Not sure if it's a problem with renamed users in general or just under CentralAuth.

Platonides, any idea? I don't know if this is really needed with CentralAuth nowadays.

I suspect it was autocreated by CentralAuth. Account created automatically logs were not created for all users. See how it was disabled in r64853, reenabled in r85128, and the long discussion at Bug 19161.

Close as duplicate of Bug 28227 ?

I've never understood the question: that configuration did not exist in trunk when this bug was filed and has never landed in a MediaWiki release. I've closed that bug. Was that code running on Wikimedia projects in November 2011??
