Comment 1 Sam Reed (reedy) 2011-11-29 20:50:03 UTC
This is going to require merges from trunk into Narayam

Going to leave it for the i18n/l10n team to deal with...

The extension is available at translatewiki.net , and we marked as beta till we get feedback from the community that it is stable can be enabled in mr.wikipedia. So please test and give us confirmation that it works as expected.

> 1)Narayam should be default font inputting system for all unregistered users
> and all users for upto 500 edit

We can make Narayam enabled by default. But the extension does not check the edits count.

> 2) The requested inputting facility should be applicable on all namespaces
> including inter active popup windows meant for inserting links and references

This should be ok.

> 3)Also applicable at edit summary, all search windows, all input boxes specialy
> "type=create" group

The extension will be enabled in all editable fields.

> 4)Shall have Marathi inscript keyboard layout option too as per windows
> non-default option

Transliteration is the default one.

> 5)Should be applicable to all skins including vector

We don't support all the mediiawiki skins. Extension supports Vector, Monobook, Modern skins.

> 6. Narayam should be default to above said user category to New User Creation
> and User Login

Extension does not distinguish uses based on any category.

> 7.Narayam keyboard structure should be editable to Marathi Wikipedia sysops at
> local level

No, The extension does not provide this feature.

If the community is ok with the extension after verifying it at translatewiki.net, please inform us here. We will enable it in mr wikis in the next i18n deployment.

Hi, We are waiting for your confirmation that the extension in its current form is acceptable or not. You can also mention which input method is default etc. But if you need a feature, not supported in current version, please file and enhancement bug.

Dear Mr.Santosh

Thanks for your detail reply and support.

In any case we want to provide Narayam as optional extension as optional facility as minimal level. If local level changes are not possible then we need to technical people of Marathi language background involved in enhancement activities.

We would like to know if we can not limit extention to user categories then can we use this extension transliteration as default for limited categories of article or limited namespaces.

At the same time Can we have extensions Marathi inscript as default on limited number of local sandbox pages

>>We don't support all the mediiawiki skins. Extension supports Vector,
Monobook, Modern skins.
:This is ok to us

As documented at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Narayam Narayam can be enabled or disabled by logged in users by using Preferences page. Or we can make it optional for everybody.

Technical people from community can always involve in enhancement.

If your intention is to test the tool before actually deploying to public, please use translatewiki.net for that. The extension, once enabled , is available in all pages. And we do not have any plan to add a feature to make the extension work only for a set of pages.

> At the same time Can we have extensions Marathi inscript as default on limited

We use translatewiki.net as our testing platform for the i18n tools.
Shall we change the default one as inscript for mr?
Comment 6 Mahitgar 2012-01-07 09:47:26 UTC
>>default one as inscript for mr ?
: No, only if possible on limited special sand box page otherwise not. May be we will try that option beyond wikimedia projetct wikis before thinking about it.In case of mr 98% majority as of now stands by transliteration due to smaller duration learning curve.

>>If your intention is to test the tool
No intention is not to test but actually to have transliteration default but preferably limit either by user category or by number of pages and namespaces or by Time duration operatable by sysops .

Remaining aspects will reply as early as possible. Will also add newer buggs for blanket default at sister wiki projects soon.

Regards

We are planning to enable the tool in mr.wikisource and mr.wikipedia in two days. I hope nobody has any problem in this(asking this, because we did not get an explicit 'yes' from you people)
Comment 8 Santhosh Thottingal 2012-02-18 13:40:59 UTC
Remove mr input methods out of beta status in r111823.
Comment 9 Niklas Laxström 2012-02-20 18:23:42 UTC
