In Ne Wiki, the words in Madan font overlap each other. Attaching screenshot.

Can you please add the URL in the URL field? This allows for testing in our systems, too, as I am unable to input the characters in the screenshot reliably.
Comment 2 Siebrand Mazeland 2011-12-13 21:13:40 UTC
Thanks for adding the URL. Also see bug 33040 for a similar issue with Samyak Gujarati and Samyak Devanagari.

This page will not load properly in OSX 10.7.2/Chrome 16.0.912.63.

I've asked some other developers to give the page a try, too. They may add their findings.

crash log of my webkit NB

I see the following crash on http://ne.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%A4%A8%E0%A5%87%E0%A4%AA%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%B2

Mac OS X 10.7.2 (11C74) with Safari 5.1.1 (7534.51.22, r102522)  [This is a webkit nightly build].

I have had this crash of a browser tab quite a few times now and it refreshes itself in a loop.

I was logged in.

0   com.apple.CoreText            	0x00007fff96abbf6f OpenTypeShapingEngine::CopyFromStorage(long, OpenTypeShapingEngine::GlyphStackEntry&) + 59

I tried clearing my cache, but it simply starts from scratch again.

(back to the reported font issue; we probably need to split off what is mentioned in comment 2 and comment 3).

I've created a small test page with a word that has incorrect rendering: https://ne.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Siebrand/test (test page with one word -- सङ्घीय --, in plain text, italic, bold, bold and italic).

This has issues in the following browser for both Lohit Deva as well as Madan, *not* for my default sytem fonts OSX, Windows XP and Windows 7 -- webfonts disabled):
* OSX 10.7.2/Safari 5.1.2
* OSX 10.7.2/Chrome 16.0.912.63
* Windows XP/Firefox 7.0.1
* Windows XP/Chrome
* Windows 7/Opera 11.51

This has no issues in:
* OSX 10.7.2/Firefox 8.0.1
* OSX 10.7.2/Opera 11.60[1!]

[1] OSX 10.7.2/Opera 11.60 appears to not have fallback, and Latin characters are not being displayed (!). Should probably be reported separately and be reported upstream.

The letter is a glyph for U+0919 U+094D U+0918 U+0940. And that is the expected glyph for ङ्घी . The glyph is present both in Lohit Devanagari and Madan. For more information, attached the glyphs of Lohit Devanagari font.

For other browser+OS issues, please use separate bug reports. Thanks
