Description Roan Kattouw 2011-12-13 23:31:36 UTC
1. Pick a random link. It can be an existing link or one you created yourself
2. Select a substring of the link that does not include the first character
3. Click the link button and change the target of the link
4. If you look at the WikiDOM/wikitext, the link is not split, and still has the same target
5. However, if you select the same substring (or a substring of the substring) and click the link button, it'll show your changed target.

If you do include the first character in your substring, the target will change in the WikiDOM, but selecting the remainder of the link and clicking the link button will still show the old target.

The expected behavior, IMO, is to either split the link in two (or three!), or update the link target properly for the entire link.

Marking INVALID, this is moot with bug 33049 fixed.

Actually, 33049 only affects 0 length selection cases, he's talking about selecting part of the link plus some other text.

The answer is actually that our transaction system is a little lacking in the annotation area. I knew about this bug a couple of a weeks ago, but the fix was further reaching than I was willing to do with so little time before the release.
