Not sure what this ticket is about, plus URL says "Website is currently unreachable", plus no idea what GNSM stands for.

Bawolff, could you clarify if this is still an issue?

Yeah, unlikely to implement this in near (or medium-term) future unless someone really wants it.

Clarification: GNSM makes an xml feed of news stories for google news (feed basically consists of list of urls plus a tiny bit of metadata). In theory google news reads this feed and displays the story (in practice it is very unclear if google is actually looking at the feed, particular for en wikinews). The xml feed also supports an option to associate an image with a url. The feature would be to have the extension automatically pick out an image (or allow one to be specified) that would be listed in the feed.

The openglobe folks (a wikinews fork) specificly asked for the feature at one point. However openglobe has subsequently died...
