step 3 (after uploading): the thumbnail preview popup features a clickable (mouse pointer changes to hand symbol) image but nothing happens on click. Expected that it either closes the window or zooms in or something.

Every thumbnail I can see, when you click on it, pops open a modal dialog with a full resolution image. I'm guessing this was fixed somewhere along the line.

Yes, it does. But IN THAT popup (tested NOW in step 3) there is a hand pointer when hovering over the image.

Where is the edit feature? Tested in Firefox 12 ... in the meantime.

I cannot see a hand pointer on hovering over the pop-up (except for the close button)
