The Project-Image doesn't resize. This is why you cannot use the normal Webpage on a mobile device. To fix it you should detect the size of the screen and if it is too small you should shrink the Project Image. This will improve the rendering of the wiki-websites in mobile devices.
If you mean the site logo, I'm not sure how that would help. You'd still have a big ol' sidebar and tabs on the top that are optimized for much wider screens. Can you give a sample screenshot and mark up what you think it would look like?

You are right. To unify the desktop and the mobile version the design of the site has to be changed from the ground. So this report can be closed... PS: i really do think it should be a goal to have a unified experience for mobile and desktop view. I think http://www.wikipediaredefined.com/ gives a good starting point how the unified design could look like.
