The FACTBOX at the bottom of the page has a localization name smw_factbox_head but is not using it. No matter what language one selects for the interface, it still shows up as "Facts about ___". The translators have done the work (i.e. Mediawiki:smw_factbox_head/zh exists) but the UI does not utilize it. This can be seen on Referata: http://navi.referata.com/w/index.php?title=Skxawng&uselang=zh
The factbox is actually using this message. But since it gets rendered in the wiki page, which is cached, the wiki language is used instead of the current user language.
(In reply to comment #1) > The factbox is actually using this message. But since it gets rendered in the > wiki page, which is cached, the wiki language is used instead of the current > user language. I changed the preference under 'user settings' and shift-reloaded the page. "Facts about" is still in English. I "purged" the page and shift-reloaded again. Still in English. I edit/save/purge/shift-reload ... still in English. How what else can I do?
Like I noted, the message will be localized in the wikis language, not in the language of any particular user. This is by design and is done for all messages rendered in pages, since you do not want some user that has language xyz to come along, edit the page, and have it localized all wrong for other users. So this is a wontfix, unless you write a patch for the MediaWiki parser that has magic to handle this nicer.
My apologies, I misunderstood. Thank you for being so patient. Sorry.
