Description Srikanth Logic 2012-01-10 14:51:54 UTC
The lang selection dropdown doesnt render using WebFont.

I get or-ପୃଷ୍ instead of or-<'oriya'>
Comment 1 Santhosh Thottingal 2012-01-10 14:57:55 UTC
Can I see a screenshot with or-ପୃଷ୍ ? thanks.
Comment 2 Siebrand Mazeland 2012-01-10 14:59:22 UTC
This is "works for me" in Chrome 16.0.912.75 on OSX 10.7 and Chrome 16.0.912.75
m on Windows 7.

Do you have any more information on operating system and exact browser version
and user language?

Oriya on Language

Strange "fail" for me. Even Oriya Wikipedia on Tamil interface loads up with squares on Chrome. Firefox is working fine. Chrome 16.0.912.75 , Win XP

Is there anything we need to do?
Are you able to reproduce this in latest version of Chrome?

Nope, in this case. Because this is a single element with too many scripts displayed. We dont want to load all the fonts. This is almost like a single textbox containing text in all scripts.
Comment 7 Niklas Laxström 2012-03-30 08:41:22 UTC
And browsers don't really allow styling dropdown fonts, do they?
Comment 8 Santhosh Thottingal 2012-06-04 10:36:08 UTC
Marking this bug WONTFIX for these reasons:
1. We cannot have multiple styles for selector options.
2. Even if we replace the html select with say a div based menu, we donot want to load all the required fonts to show scripts in each language( Se how much time it takes to load: https://translatewiki.net/wiki/Special:SupportedLanguages)
3.Language codes are given at the start of options

But we will see if this usecase can be achieved somewhere in ULS.
