Description Micki 2012-01-21 16:52:16 UTC
Can you please enable this feature on sr.wikipedia? We discussed this at our Village Pump, and several administrators and users agreed that this would be very useful (no opposes). The standard configuration is just with the bot flag

Who do you want to be able to add/remove the group?
Comment 2 Micki 2012-01-21 18:47:06 UTC
We talked about the configuration on Meta, so can you make the same configuration as there?
Comment 3 Sam Reed (reedy) 2012-01-23 21:22:04 UTC
Done
Comment 4 Micki 2012-01-23 21:44:51 UTC
Thanks. Everything seems to work fine.
Comment 5 Micki 2012-01-25 22:39:59 UTC
It seems that admins cannot give themselves this flag. Only bureaucrats can do that. This should be changed. If you can, set it to be like on Meta.

Just for ease of looking it up, I believe Micki is referring to the wgGroupsAddToSelf and wgGroupsRemoveFromSelf settings.

Done, damn hiding config settings
Comment 8 Micki 2012-01-27 16:26:32 UTC
Everything is OK now. Thanks a lot.
Comment 9 Micki 2012-04-30 21:00:57 UTC
I don't know what's the problem. When people have the flood flag and use tools like Cat-a-lot or AWB their edits are visible in the Recent changes.
Comment 10 Sam Reed (reedy) 2012-04-30 21:12:09 UTC
Are the edits being marked as bot edits?
Comment 12 Micki 2012-04-30 21:16:53 UTC
10:50 PM of course.
Comment 13 Micki 2012-04-30 22:17:38 UTC
The edits are being marked as bot edits when he is not using AWB.

Could be an AWB issue [I'm not personally familiar with that program very much...]. If using the api, edits are only marked as bot if the API request specificly states it should be a bot edit.
Comment 15 Micki 2012-05-01 20:15:45 UTC
I'm not sure that's the problem because when I give a user the regular bot flag all his edits are being marked as bot edits if he use AWB. It's the same thing with Cat-a-lot.
Comment 16 Sam Reed (reedy) 2012-05-01 20:23:54 UTC
For AWBs case:

For the save:
{ User.IsBot ? "bot" : null, null }

Which uses:
public bool IsBot
{ get { return IsInGroup("bot") || HasRight("bot"); } }
Comment 17 Micki 2012-05-02 07:24:13 UTC
I don't know anything about that :) But, should't both flags work in the same way? Only difference is that admins can give it yourself. I gave a user the flood flag and his edits were visible in RC, but after I gave him the regular bot flag everything worked fine - his edits weren't visible in RC any longer.
