Are you sure? It looks like both Wikipedia-l and WikiEN-l were around at the same time:

If Wikipedia-l really was renamed to WikiEN-l, then I think Wikipedia-l was like Intl-l or something and WikiEN-l was Wikipedia-l. I don't think it's possible to create a rewrite rule that would make all of the links still work without breaking anything else.

The stated bug and example is invalid.  my bad.

intl-l is the list that has this problem.
