the wikipedia-l mailing list was renamed wikien-l http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikipedia-l/2003-March/001887.html became http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikien-l/2003-March/001887.html A rewrite rule to support the old name would be nice. Many links have been broken. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:LinkSearch/http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikipedia-l https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:LinkSearch/http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/wikipedia-l https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:LinkSearch/http://mail.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikipedia-l
Are you sure? It looks like both Wikipedia-l and WikiEN-l were around at the same time: http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikipedia-l/2003-March/ http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikien-l/2003-March/ If Wikipedia-l really was renamed to WikiEN-l, then I think Wikipedia-l was like Intl-l or something and WikiEN-l was Wikipedia-l. I don't think it's possible to create a rewrite rule that would make all of the links still work without breaking anything else.
The stated bug and example is invalid. my bad. intl-l is the list that has this problem. https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Mailing_list_merge Here is a list of broken links https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:LinkSearch/http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/intlwiki-l https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:LinkSearch/http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/intlwiki-l
