iOS app currently uses Automatic Reference Counting, but much of the native stuff wasn't really written for it.

Need to consider the forward approach with this.

It's possible to enable on a per file basis, but might better turn it off for now, since few people know how to write proper ARC so far.

Is this for the PhoneGap app? Must have turned it on when creating the project by default or mistake...
