I note that MediaWiki assigns a unique ID to each revision of an article. The URL to a particular revision is (at least on Wikipedia) http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php followed by a query string with the article's title and revision ID. Example: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Aristotle&oldid=22376284. This gives me the article [[Aristotle]] as at 05:00, 2 September 2005. I'd like to see a similar way of linking to an article as it appeared at a certain date and time, given only the article title and the date/time. For example, there should be some query string like http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Aristotle&revdate=2005-09-02-0530, which will resolve to the same link as above. (Since [[Aristotle]] was not modified between 05:00 and 05:30 on 2 September 2005, the link should resolve to revision 22376284.)
Dropped priority as this can already be done indirectly, e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Aristotle&offset=20050902053000&action=history
You can get the date from the history, as Zigger points out. It would be a little ugly to provide this filter automatically in the index.php entry point.
