Description T. Gries 2012-02-28 06:59:47 UTC
http://static.wikipedia.org has two sections Download and Browse.

Please delete Browse section, as this is apparently full of hopelessly broken links to static repositories of HTML pages.

Or, if the static pages of 2008 have a new home, then please update the links.

But please leave the Download section.

BTW, I lost track here: what is the plan for static HTML snapshots. Can we have one static and public snapshot per year, at least for the major WMF wikis?

I have updated dumpHTML to disable the browsing link with r112585

CCing Tim Starling who originally made the HTML Dumps. Maybe static.wikipedia.org should just be disabled for now.

I do need the download section http://static.wikipedia.org/downloads/2008-06 . Please do not remove that one.

http://static.wikipedia.org/ has been deprecated and made to redirect http://dumps.wikimedia.org/

We haven't provided HTML dumps for the last 4 years and have no intent to do it again apparently. So just use the dumps :-)

Hehe, I wanted to delete the section Browse, please, as the links are broken.

We have just removed all those files as far as I know. If you want more details, please contact Tim Starling.
