Hi. Trying to translate an specific MediaWiki message for creating a multilingual template via the {{int:}} trick <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Support> I've found that I'm not able to translate because I got the following message: Unknown error: "tpt-unknown-page" (unknownerror) As such testing failed I tried to delete the page. I got the "ok" message but after pressing "delete" three times the page is still there. Regards.
That is not supported and wont work (already because the <translate> tags in the source page are not parsed on transclusion). Please see https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:Translate/Unstructured_element_translation for alternatives.
Using <translate> on MediaWiki pages does seem to work, we use it on e.g. http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Featuredwikis-approved The tag is indeed not parsed on transclusion, but with English as interface language, it uses the /en subpage which does not contain the tag. I think the original error is because you need to wait some moments until FuzzyBot updates everything.
English as the interface language does not use /en subpage (unless wiki content language is not English!). You can see this on translatewiki.net where /en has the source text and the page without subpage is local customisation.
Oh yes, indeed, now I remember that I used a workaround for that (https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Msg) :P
Closing as invalid per comment 1. "Page" in the MediaWiki namespace are not supported in the page translation feature.
