Description Tomasz Finc 2012-03-22 17:19:49 UTC
A user on twitter reported that they weren't able to disable the mobile site when using Chrome beta on a Galaxy Nexus .

Arthur verified this as not working on device in non beta mode. Native and Dolphin work just fine so the issues seem localized to just Chrome.

Oddly Chrome within our beta works as expected

The *first* time I tried to verify this issue on my Galaxy Nexus, I experienced
the same thing as was reported by the twitter user - clicking "Desktop view"
from the mobile view took me to the desktop version of the current page, but
the next link I clicked took me to the mobile version of the site.

I tried replicating the problem in other browsers and with the beta version of
MobileFrontend, but I could not. I went back to Chome Beta to debug the issue,
but I could no longer replicate it.

I re-installed Chrome Beta and tried again. I experienced the problem, again.
It seems that the 'useformat=desktop' cookie is NOT getting when going from
mobile view -> desktop view for the first time. What is strange, is that you
would expect to see this same behavior if ou clear all of your cookies and try
again. However, that is not the case. After clearing cookies and trying to
replicate the problem, I cannot - things appear to work, as expected.

I'll keep digging but this might require upstream communication with Chrome
Beta devs.

I have not this problem with Chrome beta on a Nexus S (i9023, android 4.0.3 official ROM).

Have you by any chance tried it with a fresh install of Chrome beta? If not, would you mind giving it a shot? I can only duplicate the problem the first time I use a fresh install on my Galaxy Nexus, but don't have another android device on which to try

This has been resolved in production as of r114576
