It's probably not possible to move mailing list contents from google groups - I'm not sure but seems like the sort of thing that wouldn't work. Do you know if that's ever been done before?

I remember Casey Brown was mentioning something like this before. But not sure about the technical things. It will be nice if all the historic mails in google group not separated due to the change of mailing list.

Are you still looking to have a mailman mailing on the wikimedia servers? I'm not sure how to google group transfer would happen - Shiju your link is broken.

Marked the initial private so that it will be hidden from public.

Bump. Please comment on if you would still like this mailing list to be created.
Comment 8 Casey Brown 2012-05-23 22:37:51 UTC
We can create a "Wikipedia-NE" list for you, but unfortunately I don't think it's possible to import the archives from the Google Group.

Reopen the bug if you still want the list.
Comment 9 Saroj Kumar Dhakal 2014-01-02 13:14:09 UTC
Please creat mailing list for Wikipedia-ne , and no need to migrate as it is not feasible .
Comment 10 James Alexander 2014-03-10 21:13:12 UTC
I'm not sure why this has been here so long but I'm happy to make the list. Saroj (or the others), who should be the starting administrators? Everyone listed on the top?
Comment 11 Rob Halsell 2014-03-24 22:46:00 UTC
I've created Wikipedia-NE mailing list with lotusnagarkot@gmail.com as list admin (since that is the email of the original BZ request.)

That list admin password was emailed to lotusnagarkot@gmail.com after random generation, which can be shared with other list admins (which lotusnagarkot@gmail.com can also add).

Note You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
