...now that we have proper API. http://is.gd/oafv75 seems to indicate that there is virtually (or completely?) no users of this functionality. Unfortunately, this stat was introduced just several days ago.
Didn't the older iPhone app use this?
Lots of other apps use it. We have to measure traffic. Write docs. Wait. And then deprecate it.
For the duration of 1.20wmf5's existence, it was used approximately 58*50 = 2900 times. Do we have stats about user-agents using it?
Not active. But i'm betting its not zero. You'll need to add logging for this to capture who still uses it. Then we blog post about the new api and give a cut off window. Post that we can drop it.
User-agent logging deployed.
Usage doesn't seem to be declining: maxsem@fluorine:/a/mw-log/archive$ gunzip -c json-hack.log-20120902.gz|wc -l 356 maxsem@fluorine:/a/mw-log/archive$ gunzip -c json-hack.log-20120701.gz|wc -l 380 Thus, I would like to propose serving all the users of this API a warning that they should upgrade their app or it will cease to function. Thoughts?
What ua's are still using it?
I believe this was resolved with https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/37323/
