Description Peter Bena 2012-04-04 15:17:41 UTC
Hi, I think it's a good time to make the error messages actually describe the error, rather than telling that some error occured.

For example: when you fail in process of user login, you very often get the error "Cookies are disabled, bla bla" this is appearing almost due to any possible error no matter if it's related to cookies or not. For example when mediawiki can't connect to memcached, it produce this error on login page.

Can we make error messages more clear or is there any policy that mediawiki shouldn't produce too much technical output, rather only simple "Error happened!" messages?

Hi Peter, this report is very vague. Maybe this is one of the reasons it has been sitting here during two years until someone came and commented? :)

One option is to stick to the example you are mentioning.
