Description Daniel Zahn 2012-04-27 06:33:39 UTC
all the existing wikis in the mediawiki table from before the recent large import may have names that have been entered manually in the past.

also run an update on them to fetch their "official" name as reported by their API and update all to use this name only.
Comment 1 Daniel Zahn 2012-04-27 06:38:24 UTC
update running. a lot of wikis have their names changed now but this seems the only way that makes sense. use the names as reported by API wherever possible. Let's just hope there aren't too many with different language subdomains where they did not set a different wiki name etc..
Comment 2 Daniel Zahn 2012-04-29 11:17:41 UTC
nah, ok, forget about the old "name" column completely where possible (API) and just use "si_sitename" there. (instead of updating "name"). si_sitename still allows duplicates though. first trying to fetch ALL the siteinfo data from all now. still discovering new fields in different mw versions, f.e. "si_rightscode" as mentioned on other bug.
Comment 3 Daniel Zahn 2012-05-06 21:52:13 UTC
done once. from now we can manually set the old "name" column to something different to the API name. example: zikkir.com for the largest mediawiki which reports "" as sitename in API.
