Description denny vrandecic 2012-05-02 10:33:59 UTC
How should search work on Wikidata?
Consider different languages. Consider that there are items with labels and aliases, but also normal wiki pages. How would this technically be implemented in the WMF environment?

Note https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:WikimediaIncubator where we seem to have a way to search in slices of one wiki. Could be interesting for the design.

Note that this means especially only for Phase I.
Comment 3 Daniel Kinzler 2012-06-12 11:06:30 UTC
For the implementation, not that the Lucene-based search on Wikipedia is *very* different from the normal MySQL-based search. It seems likely that we will have to implement support for both separately.
