The current category tree expand/collapse icons [+] [−] [×] are old-fashioned, ugly, and (particularly the [×]) unintuitive. They should be changed to more user-friendly rotating arrows.

At the English Wikipedia, the system messages [[MediaWiki:Categorytree-expand-bullet]], [[MediaWiki:Categorytree-collapse-bullet]], and [[MediaWiki:Categorytree-empty-bullet]] have been modified to contain nice colored arrows. This change should be integrated into the core MediaWiki CategoryTree so that all wikis can benefit from this modernization.
