I have deleted instance i-00000219 and it is still alive. The Nova_Resource says I have deleted the page on May 22th at 03:49: https://labsconsole.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:I-00000219 I still see SQL queries hammering the sql server: (mw@localhost) [commonswiki]> show processlist; +--------+------+--------------------------------+-------------+---------+------+-------+------------------+ | Id | User | Host | db | Command | Time | State | Info | +--------+------+--------------------------------+-------------+---------+------+-------+------------------+ | 991796 | mw | localhost | commonswiki | Query | 0 | NULL | show processlist | | 991845 | mw | i-00000219.pmtpa.wmflabs:41889 | commonswiki | Sleep | 0 | | NULL | | 991846 | mw | i-00000219.pmtpa.wmflabs:41890 | commonswiki | Sleep | 0 | | NULL | | 991847 | mw | i-00000219.pmtpa.wmflabs:41891 | commonswiki | Sleep | 0 | | NULL | | 991849 | mw | i-00000219.pmtpa.wmflabs:41892 | commonswiki | Sleep | 0 | | NULL | | 991850 | mw | i-00000219.pmtpa.wmflabs:41893 | commonswiki | Sleep | 0 | | NULL | +--------+------+--------------------------------+-------------+---------+------+-------+------------------+ 6 rows in set (0.00 sec)
Is this still the case? Does the host have the DNS name cached somehow? Those connections say sleep. Is the mysql server just holding them open for some reason? The instance isn't in the list via virsh on any of the compute hosts, so it's impossible that it's still alive.
There was real queries being done there. Anyway, it must have been a DNS name being cached.
