Layout names are currently sorted according to the English language name. When the layout names appear in a different alphabet, the order is confusing. The menu will probably change completely in the Universal Language Selector, but it would be nice to have some solution until then.
Added extension developer in cc and emailing him with relevant information.
Taking this bug.
The menu prints 3 schemes subset: (i) the recent selected schemes (ii) the schemes corresponding to the wiki language (e.g. as, as-avro, as-bornona and as-inscript for as.) (iii) all the other They're sorted according English scheme name but according the code (so by language, and then by method in this language). If you add ?uselang=en to an URL, you'll see "Sanskrit Transliteration" comes before "Sanskrit InScript". I think it's more coherent to offer a consistent entry method type for each language (e.g. first avro, then InScript, then transliteration) than to sort the menu by alphabetical order. Another possibility would also to keep the language order, but in each language, sort by name). This won't warranty consistency, as some translations are buggy. In French for example, we've "Traduction en assamais" but "Translittération kannada" to translate Transliteration. But that issue could be fixed by translators.
Hello, Are there any updates for this? Thanks.
Amir says it's a specific Narayam and does not apply to ULS. Narayam will be replaced by ULS on Wikimedia servers, and it seems that Narayam is only used on 3 external (non-WMF) wikis according to http://wikiapiary.com/wiki/Extension:Narayam . Dereckson: Do you still have plans to work on this? It's pretty much a WONTFIX candidate nowadays.
