Bot edits in the data namespace are not hidden in Special:Recentchanges.  These edits should be hidden.

Are they hidden in the other namespaces?

Yes, bot edits in the Wikidata-test namespace are hidden in Special:Recentchanges.

Update:
After the demo system was updated yesterday, if MerlIwBot adds an item, then the edit is hidden (probably due to the bug-fix of bug 38354), but edits where he edits an existing item are not hidden.

Seems to be fine now. Mark as resolved duplicate of bug 38354 ?

Bot edits must be marked as such during editing, and the user must have the bot right. Hiding bots are part of the saving. Previously the flag was not respected.

I have not checked if the fix covers all respect of bot editing.
