Description Andrij 2012-06-08 07:40:32 UTC
A few days ago all special pages in Ukrainian-language wikis have received
Russian names. Though Ukrainian translation [https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?language=uk&module=special&title=Special%3AAdvancedTranslate has been already prepared], there no effect. For example, we can see at WM-UA wiki (in Ukrainian) that RC page is currently http://ua.wikimedia.org/wiki/Спеціальна:Свежие_правки instead of http://ua.wikimedia.org/wiki/Спеціальна:Нові_редагування

We have already reported bugs about this problem in [https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37314 this] and [https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37329 this] threads. These threads shows that fallback to Russian and then to English, instead of the fallback directly to English, seems to be a controversial issue for Ukrainian users. Providing Ukrainian internationalisation for AdvancedTranslate the same way as it has been done for Russian wiki will resolve the issue. So, please do it.

I've made Gerrit change #10575 and Gerrit change #10577 yesterday to update MediaWiki core master with the most recent translations for special page name translations and magic words translations.

I'll try to find someone who can merge this to 1.20wmf4 and scap.

For shell person: It probably needs updating of the LocalisationCache, too (rebuildLocalisationCache.php, or whatever Wikimedia uses for this).

Do we also need to fix extension special pages?
Comment 3 Andrij 2012-06-08 17:29:56 UTC
Definitely all pages and messages that could be localized must be updated according to translation project. For the present time the most actual question is Special:AdvancedTranslate. We wait for it long long days. Extension special pages are not so frequently used but of course we shall translate them too and as soon as we will translate them, fixing will be required.

I deployed both of those, and then ran scap a few hours ago :)

Nothing changed. Still displays 10M+ edits in statistic page (http://uk.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A1%D0%BF%D0%B5%D1%86%D1%96%D0%B0%D0%BB%D1%8C%D0%BD%D0%B0:%D0%A1%D1%82%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%B8%D1%81%D1%82%D0%B8%D0%BA%D0%B0). It is NOT FIXED.
