Perhaps a different colour font as you are editing...so you could keep track of what you're doing (TG)

Not sure if we'd want to do this.

Perhaps the way to do this is to use the same visual clues that are used when using revision tracking in OOo Writer, MS Word etc. Particularly if they use the same markings as each other.

Word does a thin line (1px wide, maybe) down the outer column of a page to indicate changed lines, in both the desktop and print versions, I believe, by default.
