At the moment we use bounding boxes (bbox) to return nearby monuments. Would be better to have an option to give the lat/lon and return the nearest monuments. http://owlz.org/?url=http://toolserver.org/~erfgoed/layar/location.html gives an idea of how the result would look

If I understand this correctly your taking a point, build a bounding box around that point and than use the bounding box to get points. Isn't it possible to ask the database the 100 nearest points from a certain point? Or do we need a pre-compiled table like prox_search for that?
