I'm not sure whether the bug is in parser, in API, or at Commons:
When I call
https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/api.php?action=parse&format=jsonfm&text=%5B%5Ben%3Aasdf%5D%5D&prop=languageshtml
in the returned HTML the colon is escaped twice, it starts with
In Wikipedia&amp;#58; <a href="...
de.wikipedia returns the correct HTML:
https://de.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=parse&format=jsonfm&text=%5B%5Ben%3Aasdf%5D%5D&prop=languageshtml
gives
