jQuery 1.8.22 was released two days ago.

Looks like minor bugfixes.

An idea that passed my mind was adding jqueryui repository (github) as a core submodule, but I'm not sure if it'd be a good idea or not.

I don't think its possible (for the same reason we can't use jquery directly) because the repository contains raw source files. Even more raw then just being not-minified.

e.g. they require a "make build" (or rather "grunt", as we call it in node-js land) to generate release files.
